An excellent and different book about California Indians written for children. Its 1- and 2-page essays have uncomplicated sentences. The first part of each essay explains an aspect of Native American culture, like training to be a warrior, or making clothing, or building houses. The second part contains first-person accounts from Native Americans that relate to each concept. Excellent! Black and white illustrations.
